Anyone for strawberry's?
Well it's official summer is here, just look at the lovely strawberry's we have growing in our garden.
Granted there isn't enough to make jam, but at least we have them, last year was so wet we didn't get any fruit at all. We are currently fundraising for our fruit and veggie plot all donation gratefully received and maybe next year we'll be making jam!

Some members of the Writing / Newsletter Group
The Stafford Centre produces a newsletter each month which you can subscribe to on this page. Today we started a writers / Newsletter Group to involve more people in the production of the newsletter. Five people came along and chatted about what they could contribute to the newsletter on a regular basis. We then spent 20min on short exercise writing a piece related to the weather. Check below for some samples:
Summer BBQ AT The Royal Edinburgh Hospital
It all happened one sunny June afternoon at a social hub called The Hive. I was there with a few friends and other hospital patients. There was plenty of food and music. A band called after the Hive provided the main entertainment. This included, songs, guitars and even a mean trumpet. All ages attended both male and female and the event ran for two hours. This was a new initiative created by "the powers that be" (or the high chief)
It was like a mini festival but exclusively arranged for the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, part of a social events calendar. They are hoping to repeat this idea next year. (Jean 2013)
Attended the Stafford Centre at 11am for newsletter meeting. Five of us attended with John taking the chair. The meeting had to be moved from the garden due to another day of sunshine. We all headed up to the Art room and replaced the brushes etc with pens to highlight our experiences of the writing group. (J 2013)

Eric displays the gym painting
What a beautiful day in Edinburgh scorchio!
The Art Group do many great pieces of art work and one of our art group members has just sold a painting to one of the Support In Mind Scotland board members. Eric decided he like the painting that much that he would donate it to the Royal Edinburgh Hospital Gym. "Because the picture had a gym theme I thought it would be good to donate it to the gym at the R E H. The staff at the gym and the people who use the gym were delighted with the painting, and hung it up straight away. Everyone appreciated the work that had gone into the painting and thought it was very well done."
